‘Curious Blend’ Episode 9: Navigating Entrepreneurship and Acquisition with Jaclyn Schiff

With this week’s Curious Blend, Keller has a chat with Jaclyn Schiff, a seasoned entrepreneur and agency owner who has had a successful career in the media and marketing industries. After some experience experimenting with blogging and social media she founded her own content agency, PodReacher.

Jaclyn launched her career as a healthcare journalist in Washington DC. She quickly realized that it’s a tough slog to make money in journalism, so she started experimenting with blogging and social media. After working for a B2B healthcare publication in Chicago, Jaclyn decided to take some time to travel and freelance. During this period, she came up with the idea for PodReacher, a company that helps B2B marketers turn their audio and video content into written content. Jackyn approached 10 podcasts and asked if they would be interested in turning their episodes into articles. A few of them said yes, and that's how PodReacher got started.

Jaclyn’s parents were both entrepreneurs, so she grew up in an environment where the entrepreneurship mindset was always around. She always knew that she wanted to start her own business, but she quitte didn't know what it would be.

A guiding principle in business for Jaclyn is to add value. She believes that it is important to understand the people she works with and to help them achieve their goals. She also believes in being selective about the projects she takes on. Taking time off is important for helping Jaclyn prevent burnout. She also believes that it is important to be constantly learning and growing.

Jaclyn recently sold PodReacher. She is now working with a former boss on a communications project for a travel medicine society. She is also thinking about what she wants to do next, but she knows that she will start another business at some point.
