What is a Community Manager at Createscape
There are some new faces at the office!
If you've been around Createscape the past few months, you've probably noticed some friendly new faces behind the welcome desk.
In addition to Vana Ash, who’s been a community manager since August 2020, Carly Michelle and Julivic Marquez have joined the Createscape community manager team to help manage our seemingly—no…aspiringly!—non-stop growing space.
Like Vana, Julivic and Carly don’t simply sort mail (which there has been a lot of since we launched our virtual mail service), they don’t just refill printer ink and paper, either. Community managers also help members schedule conference room bookings and assist day-pass visitors find their way around.
Vana, Carly and Julivic are pretty much responsible for keeping the space running smoothly, with help from lesser-seen staff members too, including Riki, who’s responsible for writing the newsletter, blog posts and runs Createscape Twitter account. And Keller who’s founder and CEO, new desk builder, happy hour and morning hangout booze and donut fetcher.
Community Manager run-down
When Austin opened for business again after Covid numbers began to decline, we had an explosion of new members. To meet growing demand, we decided to hire new staff members. But there were other reasons too:
We did not Crash
Createscape experienced a mini explosion at every membership tier—from day-pass users to conference room reservations, and multiple bookings for full day event reservations on weekends.
Our virtual mail membership increased.
We have more events! While we scaled back on events in the summer, our events calendar was packed in Spring, and will be again in the Fall. We have so many great plans in the works, too. See our events page to see what we have planned for the coming weeks. And if you’re not a member but want to check out one of our happy hours or morning hangouts, consider signing up for a free trial day (first-time visitors only), or purchase a day pass. Events are the perfect place to meet and network with other members.

Get to know Createscape staff members.
Carly joined Createscape as a community manager in January 2022, which also happened to be her one-year anniversary as a Createscape member. We even featured Carly twice in our newsletter, Create.Chronicle, and on our blog. If you want to learn more about Carly’s Best Money Class Ever, or get a taste of what it’s like to live out of an RV in East Austin and road-trip around the U.S., stop by the desk Tuesday and Wednesday mornings to say hello.
Julivic joined the staff in May. When she’s not at Createscape, Julivic is at Kalunga Collective, an organization that provides a de-colonial education curriculum to study-abroad programs in the Caribbean. Kalunga Collective is still young and just now int he process of developing their brand and digital presentation. But their clients didn’t want to wait. They’re eager to get to work. “I find it funny that we got clients before having a formulated brand,” said Julivic. “Our clients trust and like what we do, that encourages us even more to continue the work we are doing.”
Julivic is also a member of an Afro-modern dance company in Austin. She says that for her, movement is essential. “I speak with my whole body. I see shapes and colors in words.” If members have any tips, web design or marketing resources, Julivic says to visit her at the front desk on Thursdays and Fridays.
Having a full team of community managers, social media experts, content creators, and business professionals has helped Createscape be one of the few successful coworking spaces in Austin that’s owned and operated by true-blue Austinites. We don’t have a corporate bone in our coworking body.
